چکیده

Minimally invasive techniques in distal tibial fractures are technically feasible and may be advantageous in that it minimizes soft tissue compromise and devascularization of the fracture fragments. This study describes results of Twenty seven cases of fractures of the distal tibia treated by using the metaphyseal locking plate (LCP) as an internal fixator. Patient’s outcome in terms of period of radiologic union of the fractured segments and period of full weight bearing capacity were access. There were 22 males and 5 females of mean age 37.7 years. All patients were fully weight bearing at 20 weeks (ranging 1232 weeks) showing radiological union. There were six superficial infections treated successfully using oral antibiotics, 2 deep infections and 7 patients had hardware related complication. MIPO is an effective method for distal tibial fractures. The use of indirect reduction techniques and small incisions is technically demanding but decreases surgical trauma to soft tissues.

Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis with Locking Compression Plate for Distal Diametaphyseal Tibia Fracture

Distal diametaphyseal tibia fracture though requires operative treatment is difficult to manage. Conventional osteosynthesis is not suitable because distal tibia is subcutaneous bone with poor vascularity. Closed reduction and minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) with locking compression plate (LCP) has emerged as an alternative treatment option because it respects biology of distal t...

A Pitfall in Fixation of Distal Humeral Fractures with Pre-Contoured Locking Compression Plate

Anatomically precontoured locking plates are intended to facilitate the fixation of articular fractures and particularly those associated with osteoporosis. Fractures of the distal humerus are relatively uncommon injuries where operative intervention can be exceptionally challenging. The distal humeral trochlea provides a very narrow anatomical window through which to pass a fixed-angle locking...

Intramedullary nailing and plate osteosynthesis for fractures of the distal metaphyseal tibia and fibula.

PURPOSE To assess the results of concurrent intramedullary nailing plus plate osteosynthesis for fractures of the distal tibia and fibula. METHODS 15 men and 10 women (mean age, 35 years) with concurrent fractures of the distal tibia and fibula underwent intramedullary nailing (for the tibia) and plate osteosynthesis (for the fibula). 17 fractures were type A1, 6 type A2, and 2 type A3. Compo...

Use of locking plate in combination with dynamic compression plate for repair of tibial fracture in a young horse

Grade 1 open spiral fracture of left tibia in a 1.5 year-old horse was treated using a combination of 4.5 mm locking compression plate (LCP) and a dynamic compression plate applied in a neutralization manner. The open wound was managed postoperatively by regular dressing and lavage. Radiograph at 24 days post-treatment revealed callus formation and at two months complete bridging callus was obs...
